What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?
A Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist is a Physical Therapist who specializes in pelvic floor dysfunction through extra training, certifications and education. Pelvic Floor PT treats any issues “down there” but should also be able to treat orthopedic issues related to your pelvic floor dysfunction. We treat both women & men but also offer other forms of education/ treatment such as Labor & Delivery Prep.
What does an Initial Visit look like?
In-Person: Initial visits are 90 minutes when we will go through a head to toe assessment based upon your concerns and complaints. We will start with a thorough history related to your complaints then transition into functional movement such as posture, squatting, bending, lifting and jumping. Following functional movement, we will take a look at feet, knee, hip, rib cage, core and last pelvic floor! Lastly, with your consent, we will perform an internal exam or rectal exam. It is NEVER required but can be helpful to get to the root cause of your concerns/ issues. We will always walk you through all the details of the examination prior to performing.
Virtual: All above are performed except internal pelvic floor assessment via secure video conferencing utilizing PTEverywhere. You will not be asked to show your genitals.
Do you take insurance?
We are a “fee for service” or “out of network” provider, meaning we do not accept insurance. We do this so that we can provide quality care and allow you to get the most that you can out of our services.
However, we can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. This will depend on your “out of network“ benefits. Superbills are provided to you after each visit.
Also, Nurture You Pelvic Health went through the process to become an “out of network” provider with TRICARE meaning that you should receive some form of reimbursement depending on your plan, Select vs Prime

How many sessions will I need AND how often?
As you probably guessed, this depends on the person. We should expect to see improvements within 1-2 sessions with recommendations for 6-12 visits total. You will work with your pelvic floor therapist to develop a plan that works best for you!
This also depends but usually every other week then as we see improvements we start to decrease the frequency. We help you to reach your goals!
